Ok, so its been ages since my last post, but not too much has happened in that time apart from a LOT of work!
Still working the two jobs, and both are going quite well.
Chambers, the bar I’m working in, has actually turned out to be a lot of fun. Sure its busy, loud, they generally play terrible music and I cant understand what the customers are saying, but its been a good experience for me, and a definite change from working in small country pubs in England. Paddy’s day was massive, and while I had to work, we got rewarded with a lock in at Rearden’s (another pub owned by the same people) followed by a few drinks at ‘charlies’ the early opening (7am) pub near my house. Didn’t rock home till after Midday…
Most of the people at Chambers are pretty cool too, and after a lot of us newbies joined around the same time as me, we’re all getting along well now – of course the lock ins help! We’re kinda developing an Aussie minority in the company at the moment. In Chambers is me and Katrina, then a week after I started, Alison – another friend from Edinburgh – started at Reardens, and just this week, Sophie – a friend of Katrina’s from Oxford – started in the third of the three clubs, Havana’s.
My other job, at the box factory is…well….as you would imagine a box factory to be! But at the end of the day, the people there are pretty cool, and its all pretty cruisy (except for when stuff goes wrong!)
Had a slight accident recently (in fact a couple) involving my head and a patch of footpath out the front of a pub…I’ll let you guys fill in the blanks…Alls I will say is its all nicely healed now!
I’ve basically got my shortlist of places I want to see in Europe before heading home at the end of the year: Portugal, Spain, Turkey and Morocco. Not sure which of these I will get to, but those are the targets, so hopefully I get to at least a couple. I’d toyed with the idea of Scandinavia and Russia, but I’ve kind of lost interest in them, but Scandi is way to expensive for my budget at the moment!
Anyways, that’s all for the moment, hopefully I will have something more interesting to tell you soon!
Cheers
